Will's Donor Drive
Come out and Celebrate Life!
Will's drive was a GREAT success! Over 200 people were typed to be added to the registry! Thank you Will and family for such an awesome drive! You guys are amazing!
Our friend, Will, has Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome. Last year, his hematologist determined that his marrow was producing pre-leukemic cells, so he needed a transplant. On May 11, 2006, he received his new bone marrow and started a new healthy life.
Will writes: God blessed me witha littlebrother, who had the same bone marrow as me and he was my donor, but while undergoing my transplant, I quickly realized that there was only one other child (out of 16 BMT patients) who had a sibling donor. This made me sad. There were kids who didn;t have a brother (or sister) like my brother Jeb, to save their life. My mom and dad explained to me that there was something called the National Marrow Donor Program and that total strangers unselfishly donate their bone marrow to save the lives of other people. I was really excited about that until I met a friend who couldn;t find a donor match on the registry. I told my mom and dad that I wanted to help my friend and other people like her.
On May 11, 2007 please join me and my family in celebrating life by helping save others.............
I am asking you to register to become a bone marrow donor. I am alive today because of my little brother. Won't you be a "little brother" to someone who needs your marrow to survive?
